Yutong Xuan

Undergraduate @ Zhejiang University

I am currently a senior undergraduate student at Zhejiang University, majoring in Information and Computing Science.

Starting in Fall 2026, I will join Cornell University as a PhD student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, based at Cornell Tech, where I will be fortunately advised by Prof. Tianyi Chen.

My research interests lie in stochastic optimization, first-order algorithms, bilevel optimization, large-scale optimization, and optimal transport.

Research Interests

My research interests lie broadly in stochastic optimization, bilevel optimization, and large-scale optimization, with a particular focus on first-order methods.

I am interested in designing optimization frameworks to address the complex objectives that arise in modern machine learning systems, including generative model training, reinforcement learning, and hyperparameter optimization. My goal is to develop both theoretical foundations and practical algorithms for solving large-scale engineering problems.
