Yutong Xuan

PhD Student @ Cornell University

I am currently a first-year PhD student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, based at Cornell Tech. I am advised by Prof. Tianyi Chen.

Previously, I was an undergraduate student in Information and Computing Science at Zhejiang University.

My research interests lie in stochastic optimization, first-order algorithms, bilevel optimization, large-scale optimization, and optimal transport.

Research Interests

My research interests lie broadly in stochastic optimization, bilevel optimization, and large-scale optimization, with a particular focus on first-order methods.

I am interested in designing optimization frameworks to address the complex objectives that arise in modern machine learning systems, including generative model training, reinforcement learning, and hyperparameter optimization. My goal is to develop both theoretical foundations and practical algorithms for solving large-scale engineering problems.
